Marshall Lee Barr Sr. 83, of Lenoir went home to be with Jesus on November 3, 2021, at Hospice in Hudson. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family following a period of declining health. Marshall was born on October 9, 1938 in Konnarock, Virginia to the late Frank Barr and Belle Stansberry Barr. Marshall was a devoted member of Grandview Park Baptist Church in Lenoir where he enjoyed serving as the van ministry driver and church custodian. He was retired from B&E Woodturning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Sally J. Barr; three sons, Billy Barr, David Barr, and Marshall Lee Barr Jr.; two brothers, Charlie Stansberry and Edward Stansberry; and sisters, Betty Harringer, Norma Jean, and Lena. He is survived by his faithful wife, Kathy Barr of the home; two sons, James Barr and Robert Barr of Lenoir; two stepdaughters, Trish Blackburn and husband, Shawn of Hudson and Tanessa Porch and husband, Josh of Hudson; special family from Virginia, Irma Wilson, Pauline Frye and husband, CW, and Bobby Stanberry; 18 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Grandview Baptist Church on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm, Pastor Raymond Spann, Pastor Lance Main, and Pastor Jim Phillips will be officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Amorem Hospice at 902 Kirkwood St NW, Lenoir, NC 28645.
