Marshall L. Barlowe, 85, died peacefully at home on Thursday, December 4, 2008. He was born to Spurgeon and Dollie Smith Barlowe on November 9, 1923. He was a life-long citizen of Caldwell County, except for three years? active service in the U.S. Army Air Force in England during WWII, and the time he spent as a student at Appalachian State University, where he received his teaching degree.  Other than his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Nancy Barlowe Ingram, and his sisters, Arlene, Meda, and Betty Neal, and his brother, Donald.  Surviving family members are sister, Ellen Steele, and brothers, Everett and Smith Barlowe. Marshall is also survived by his wife, Tuttle Anderson Barlowe, his sons, Jeff and Richard, grandchildren, Anna Sparks, Chase, Erik, Max, Clark and Kate Barlowe, Caroline Ingram, and one great-granddaughter, Emmalynn Rose Sparks. He is remembered by his family, his friends from Happy Valley High School, and by coworkers at Blowing Rock Chair Company, where he served as Personnel Director from the 1950s until the 1970s.  Flowers, in his memory, were placed in the foyer at Lower Creek Baptist Church, where he and his children were baptized. Other flowers were placed in the sanctuary at Littlejohn Methodist Church, where he and Tut were faithful members.  According to Marshall?s wishes, donations of organ, tissue, and skin were to be made upon his death. All other final arrangements will be private. Evans Funeral Home is serving the family and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.evansfuneralservice.com  Memorials to honor Marshall Barlowe may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care for the blessed and gentle care given to him as polyneuropathy weakened his body. Also, continuing support for Littlejohn United Methodist Church Cemetery Endowment Fund would honor Marshall?s wishes.  John 3:16 PDF Printable Version
