Marsha Farthing Melton, age 63, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born April 15, 1948 in Watauga County, Marsha was a daughter of the late Edgar Dean and Agnes Ruth Dollar Farthing. Marsha was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. She loved sewing and spending time with her grandkids. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Dean Farthing and Michael James Farthing. Survivors include two daughters and a son in law, Deanna and Ted Gouge of Roan Mountain, and Amanda Calix of Lenoir; a son Jeffrey Wayne Melton of Lenoir; a sister, Connie Anderson of Morganton; her grandchildren, Michael and Brittani Coffey, Jordan Coffey, Emily Melton, Jennifer Melton and Noah Calix; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Marsha’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Raymond Spann officiating. Interment will follow in the Pisgah Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Melton, Michael Coffey, Charles Anderson, Bobby Anderson, Stanley Farthing, and standing in for Jordan Coffey will be Ted Gouge. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
