Marie Townsend Greer

Lenoir, NC – Mrs. Marie Townsend Greer, age 73, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Watauga County on July 23, 1939 to the late Roy Townsend and Daire Shook Townsend. She loved her all of her many pets. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Monroe Greer and James Greer; great-granddaughters, Victoria Greer and McKenzie Wilson; and one sister and five brothers. She is survived by her children, Denise Hendrix and husband Danny; Davey Greer; Steve Greer; Sherrie Day and husband Everett; Tammy Holland and husband Gerald; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ann Williams and Sandra Moody; and brother, Paul “Coute” Townsend. A celebration of Mrs. Greer’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 12:00 with Pastor James Palmer officiating. Interment will take place in the Townsend Family Cemetery in Banner Elk. Pallbearers will be Erin Greer, J.R. Saunders, Randy Nelson, Tim Moody, Jim Williams, and Cody Clark. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 prior to the service.
