Lenoir, NC- Margaret Alice Setzer Phillips was born July 12, 1923 to the late Alonzo Lucius Setzer and Margaret Annie Braswell Setzer. Margaret (Midge) is awaiting the return of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a dedicated member of Central Advent Christian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and choir member. Margaret was a retired school secretary having been in that position at Collettsville School for thirty years. In later years, she served as a receptionist at the Collettsville medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Puett Phillips; four brothers and four sisters: Albert Frank Setzer, Carl Setzer, Dora Lee Setzer Keyes, Emma Druscilla Setzer Warren, Susie Rebecca Setzer Estes, Dorothy Mae Setzer, Carroll Alonzo Setzer and Raymond Lucius Setzer. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Tisha Jill Gragg. She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne Phillips Earp and Elizabeth Phillips Harren both of Lenoir; two sons-in-law that she thought were perfect, Kermit Steven Earp and James Michael Harren. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Heidi Earp Icenhour, Jeremy Stephen Earp, Andrew Michael Harren all of Lenoir, James Joshua Harren of Granite Falls; 5 great-grandchildren Emilee Jordan Icenhour, Abigail Stefani Earp, Margaret Shyann Earp, Kaylee Madison Harren and Ariana Elizabeth Harren all of Lenoir and numerous nieces and nephews. For the past four years Midge has been gently and lovingly cared for by the employees of Aston Park Health Care Center in Asheville, NC. We thank God for their dedication and love for our mother. A celebration of Midge?s life will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, January 10, 2008 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir with Reverend Ed Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 until 3 PM, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service.
