Lenoir, NC- Margaret North Goodstal, 91, born March 27, 1918, in Auburn, New York, living formerly in the upstate area of New York and passing away in Lenoir, North Carolina, passed away January 20, 2010. Margaret was the daughter of Rose and John Malysa, attended school in the Sauquoit Valley area, attended St. Patrick?s Church in Clayville, New York, where she married Walter (Butch) North who died in October 1963. Margaret remarried to Floyd Goodstal of Wolcott, New York, he passed in April 1978. Margaret was predeceased by three brothers, Harry Molesky, Frank Malysa and Michael Malysa. Two sisters also predeceased her, Mary Butrym and Anna Nichols. She leaves two children, Barbara North Freer and her husband Frank of Lenoir, North Carolina and John North and his wife Patricia of Valatie, New York. Grandsons Frank Freer resides in Creede, Colorado. John North and his wife Mia reside in Shenzhen, China with their son Ian. Doctor James North and his wife Doctor Amy Knoller reside in Greenfield Center, New York with their two sons, Ethan and Bryce. Granddaughters Michele Freer Powell and her husband Brent (B.J.) live in Hickory, North Carolina with their beloved Great- Grandson (whom Margaret assisted in raising for his first five years) Tanner. Jennifer North lives in the Boston and the New Hampshire area. Special Granddaughter, by a previous marriage, Sue Seet (North) resides in Austin, Texas with Margaret?s two grown Great-Grandchildren, Alex and Colon North. Margaret leaves a special Sister Pauline Poquadeck residing in Vernona, New York and two dear Sisters-in-law Bernice Malysa and Albina Molesky, both in the Clayville/Utica area. Many Nieces and Nephews reside in that area and all will be remembered for their kindness and love to their Aunt and Sister-in-law. A special bond of love was shared between Margaret and her Son-in-law, Frank and he will always be remembered for all he did for her and the time he spent with such kindness- while she lived with them in Wolcott and Lenoir. Never was a bad word said between them. A deep thank you to Michele Powell, Granddaughter for the generous hours she sat at her Grandmother?s side during the illness this past year. Margaret had many achievements, besides the love and kindness she shared with so many family members and friends during their times of need. ?Maggie? to many, was the first president of the Cassville Ladies Fire Auxiliary in her hometown, while her husband ?Butch? was chief of the small town fire department. She also took a gold medal at her first ?Senior Games of North Carolina?, winning not only locally but Gold State Wide with an ?Egg? basket she made in 2003. She made over 80 baskets in the twelve years she worked with a group from the local senior center in Lenoir.
