Lenoir, NC- Mr. Mansfield “Bud†Auton, age 62, of Lenoir, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at his home. Born June 19, 1948 in Watauga County, Bud was a son of the late Dale Auton and Virginia Auton Berry and the husband of Mrs. Debbie Gragg Auton of the home. Bud was a forklift operator for Broyhill Furniture and a member of Open Door Baptist Church. He loved his family and enjoyed trout fishing. He was a U.S. Army veteran and stationed in Germany during Vietnam. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Shasity Auton. Surviving other than his wife are 4 sons, Shannon Gragg and wife Terry; Buddy Auton and wife Michelle; Dwight Auton and wife Becky; Brian Auton and wife Becky, all of Lenoir; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Calloway and husband Roger and Beatrice Massingill all of Granite Falls; 4 brothers, Carl Auton and wife Faye of Lenoir; Jay Auton and wife Polly of Wilkesboro; Bill Auton and wife Sandra of Hudson; Jim Auton of Lenoir and 7 grandchildren, Chelsea, Matthew, Mason, Karen, Dylan, Casey and Macie and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Bud’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2010 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Alan Younce, Preacher Roger Calloway and Preacher Brian Auton officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartley Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Evans Funeral Service & Crematory. Pallbearers will be: Randy Hall, John Hutcheson, Daniel Hall, Roger Calloway, Jr., Scott Greene and Steven Greene. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jonathan Prestwood.
