Maggie Miller

Lenoir – Mrs. Maggie Penland Miller, age 98, was called home to Heaven on Monday, August 10, 2015. She was born in Clay County, NC on March 4, 1917 to the late Mack Penland and Nancy Ledford Penland. She was married for more than 50 years to the late Floyd Miller. Mrs. Miller will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Dudley Shoals Baptist Church and loved her church family. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son, Harold Miller and nine brothers and sisters. Mrs. Miller is survived by her son, Reece Miller and wife, Mary; daughter, Janet Lawrence and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Mitch Miller and wife, Renada; Kenny Miller and wife, Ann; Scott Miller and wife, Michelle; Rick Lawrence and wife, Misty; Eric Lawrence and wife, Leanne; great-grandchildren, Caleb Miller; April Miller ; Cole Miller; McKenzie Lawrence; Evonna Miller; Garrett Lawrence; Noah Lawrence; Anastasia Lawrence; Holden Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Union Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Don Ingle and Pastor Gordon West officiating and special comments by Steven Scronce. Mrs. Miller’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
