Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Maggie Etta Story Freeman, age 85, of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born July 15, 1928 in Bristol, TN, she was a daughter of the late Colonel McKinnely and Ethel Gertrude Greene Story and the wife of the late Alvin Virgil Freeman. Although she was born in Bristol, Mrs. Freeman was raised in the Aho community of Watauga County. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Lenoir and enjoyed sewing, gardening and taking photos of family and friends. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Romey and Wayne Story and two sisters, Anna Lea Canipe and Beulah Autry. She is survived by her children, Dock Marcus Freeman and wife Maritta; Ramona Murchio, widow to the late Marc Murchio of Texas; David Michael Freeman; Dennis Martin Freeman and fiancée Ramona Johnson; Melinda Kim Freeman Jones and husband Randall; 9 Grandchildren, Jason Michael Freeman, Justin Mathew Freeman and wife Sasha of Morganton, Tracy Lynn Bryant, Terry Dean Huffman, Jr. and wife Lisa, Alissa Ann Calloway, Amber Nicole Bowlin and husband Matt, Jose Rosendo Martinez, Jr. and wife Haley, Ashley Renee Heien and husband Chase of Hickory, Isaac McKinnely Jones; 10 Great-Grandchildren, Taylor Freeman, Rhett Freeman, Carter Freeman, Camlin Freeman, Chesney Freeman, Phillip Bryant, Daniel Bryant, Macie Calloway, Izabella Martinez, Ian Carswell and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild, Isabella Freeman.She is also survived by 2 sisters, Charlotte Miller, Dorothy Winkler, two sisters-in-law, Carmen Story, Catherine Smith and a very special family member, Rosendo Martinez, Sr. A celebration of Mrs. Freeman’s life will be held 5:00 PM Thursday, June 19, 2014 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Jim Hamby officiating.Music will be provided by David Kerley.The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 5:00, prior to the service.
