Mae Haas Setzer

Mrs. Mae Haas Setzer, age 92, of Hudson passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born May 22, 1926 in Caldwell County, Mae was a daughter of the late George and Gertrude Sullivan Haas.She was a member of the Central Advent Christian Church, where she served on most all committees.Mae was a seamstress who worked in the furniture industry many years and retired from Grand Manor.She loved quilting and making pocketbooks with the Piecemakers at Central Advent Christian Church.Mae loved to travel, but most important, loved to be with her family.In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Bruce, Ira and Franklin Haas; a sister, Johnsie Icenhour; and an infant brother who died at birth; two step brothers, Rodney and Murray Setzer; and her step-mother, Annabelle Haas. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Cecil Setzer; a son, Gerald Setzer (wife Chris); a daughter, Janet Setzer Bryant; a sister, Bernice Witherspoon; a brother, Cecil Haas; a sister in law, Vera Haas; she is also survived by six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mae’s life will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Central Advent Christian Church at 3:00 PM with Pastor Marshall Tidwell officiating.Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Moore, Bruce Richards, Dana Haas, Frank Icenhour, Jon Setzer and Dennis Bryant. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The family would like to thank Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care and the Shaire Center for their care.
