Mae Banner Stone Carmody

Mae Banner Stone Carmody, born June 22, 1929 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, passed away on March 30, 2023 in Lenoir, North Carolina of natural causes. She was a graduate of National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia. Throughout her life she worked as an administrative assistant at several companies before retiring from BASF in Morristown, Tennessee.

She was the daughter of the late Thurston B and Mae B Stone of Big Stone Gap, VA and was married to the late Horace R Carmody. She is survived by her daughters Suzanne C Hedgecock (Sonny) of Kernersville, NC; Debra C Burchette (David) of Lenoir, NC; granddaughters Hannah P Taylor (Josh) of Conover, NC and Mary J Eanes (Becky) of Dandridge, TN; grandson Josh Burchette (Amy) and Jessica Jewell.

Mae was predeceased by her daughter Sherry C Eanes (Dewey), grandson Brian M Allen and granddaughter Natalie A Wagoner.

There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local animal shelter. Mae loved her pets, in particular her dog Lucky. Much appreciation to the ICU staff at UNC Caldwell for their care and compassion.
