Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Mabel Laney Taylor, age 87, of Lenoir, passed away at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 21, 2009. Born September 5, 1921 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Bryant Filmore and Edna Beach Laney. Mrs. Taylor was a home maker and also a member of the Lower Creek Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years and a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Mobile. In addition to her parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bruce “Jack†Taylor; one son, Wayne Taylor; she was also preceded by four brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by a daughter and son in law, Gaye Taylor Honeycutt and husband Chris of Grace Chapel ; two sons and daughters in law, James B. and Mary Ann Taylor, and Larry and Penny Taylor all from Lenoir; one sister, Margaret L. Smith of Lenoir; one brother, Bill F. and Jane Laney of Lenoir; she is also survived by nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives. A graveside celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Officiating will be Reverend Todd Braswell.  Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Taylor, Neil Taylor, Jack Taylor, Taylor Honeycutt, Jason Taylor, Michael Cook, and Tony Land. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 10:00 to 10:45 at Lower Creek Baptist Church prior to the funeral service.
