Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Lynn Emily Durapau Romano, age 57, of Lenoir, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born March 29, 1955 in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was a daughter of the late Marcel Joseph Durapau, Jr. and the late Rita Odelia Rogers Durapau. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Retired U.S. Navy, Command Master Chief, Stanley Joseph Durapau. Lynn was raised Catholic but upon moving to Lenoir, she began worshipping at Lower Creek Baptist Church where she became a member and was active in the Baptist Young Women’s Group. She loved her country and enjoyed her heritage. She loved cooking Cajun food and her dream was to teach people how to cook Cajun. Lynn loved to do things for her community, including cooking for the homebound, volunteering with the Wig Bank, active in Arm in Arm and Relay for Life. Lynn was also a member of the Red Hats. She learned quilting after moving to Lenoir and enjoyed all of God’s creation. She found joy in watching the leaves change and listening to water running. Lynn loved animals, especially horses. Lynn is survived by her husband, Johnny Kim Romano of the home; 2 daughters, Amanda Romano-Harmon and husband Shawn of Lenoir; ITSN, U.S. Navy, Lauren Natalie Romano and fiancée, Kelli Murphy stationed in San Diego, California and one Granddaughter, Giada “Butterbean” Marceline Harmon. A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Braswell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of Lower Creek Baptist Church.
