Lura Mae Jones

Lura Mae Jones, age 86, in Lenoir, North Carolina passed away on February 12, 2023.

Mae was born on November 4, 1936 to the late Calvin Hicks and Minnie Harmon.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Albert Jones; sons, Ronnie Jones, Dickey Jones; daughter, Connie Jones Kirby; two brothers; four sisters; and one grandson, David Jones.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Donnie Jones (wife, Rita), Mickey Jones (wife, Raneta), nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren.

She was the eldest member of Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Lenoir. She enjoyed children and loved spending time with them. She babysat for many families for many years.

The family would like to give a  special thanks to Brent Hemphill whom loved and helped care for her over the past seventeen years.

The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 12:00PM at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock with Rev. Wade Church and Pastor Scott Philyaw officiating.
