Lucy Anders Bolick

Lucy Anders Bolick of Lenoir, NC passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Boone, NC.

Lucy was born on April 22, 1947 to the late Emily and Ray Anders in Statesville, NC. In addition to her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harold Bolick, her sister, Janice Bradshaw, and her brother, James Anders.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, H. Arthur “Arty” Bolick II and wife Cheryl Mason Bolick of Chapel Hill, NC, her beloved companion, Richard Barlow of Lenoir, and numerous other friends and family members.

Lucy is also survived by her treasured granddaughters, Eleanor “Ellie” Anders Bolick, Virginia Bolick, and Margaret Belmont “Belle” Bolick. When they were young girls, Lucy took immense pleasure in providing them with snazzy outfits, usually adorned with ribbons and bows. The girls’ teachers quickly learned to tell when one of the girls was wearing a “Lulu” outfit.

As they grew into young ladies, Lucy loved to take her granddaughters along with her on her adventures. Whether it was shopping, getting manicures, or visiting local festivals, they always came back with great LuLu stories of their fun filled adventures.

Lucy was a proud graduate of Lenoir High School, Class of 1965. She loved to travel, shop, and spend time with her granddaughters. She had a zest for life, and lived every day to the fullest. She was happiest when she was on the go, never wanting to stay idle for more than a minute.

Lucy never met a stranger. Her infectious and unforgettable laugh, sunny demeanor, and genuine kindness blessed her with friends in all walks of life.

For several years, Lucy managed, and then owned, a chain of candy and nut stores. Later, she found her passion in furniture sales. Her personality made her a natural salesperson. She had a knack for helping her customers find just what they needed, whether they knew they needed it or not.

Lucy will be remembered as a funny, kind, and adventurous woman, who was loved by many.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Cedar Rock Country Club in Lenoir NC on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The family will hold a private Memorial Service at a later date.
