Lucille Effie Laws

Lucille E. Laws, long-time resident of Lenoir, and more recently of Statesville, NC, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009,  At Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Matthew Laws, and her son, Lawrence David Laws. Ms. Laws is survived by two daughters, Reba L. Clark and husband, Zack Carroll, of Tallahassee. Florida; and Judy L. McNeill and husband, Joseph Carlos, of Statesville, NC;  a sister, Ms. Beulah Musser of Stanley, NC; and daughter-in-law, Wanda B. Laws of Lenoir. Ms. Laws is  also survived by seven granddaughters, Donna Reeves and husband, Tom of Lynhaven, Florida; Sonja  Leighton and husband Tom and son, Tommy, of Niceville, Fla.; Mona  Zcupak and husband, John, and son, Christopher, of Leesburg, Va.; Nina  Moody and husband, Bill, and son Connor Austin, of Tallahassee, Fla.; and Sue Ann Mitchell and husband, Steve, and son, Jacob, of Lenoir; Jill Roberts and husband, Christopher, and daughter, Peyton of Lenoir; Wendy Laws of Lenoir; three grandsons, Joseph McNeill and wife, Kay, and children, Kristen and Bonnie, of Lenoir, and Zack, of Fort Leonardwood, Mo.; Tim McNeill of Lenoir; and Patrick McNeill and wife, Connie, and son, Riley, of Granite Falls.  Ms. Laws was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church.   Prior to her retirement she was the evening manager of  the Shelter Home of Caldwell County. She was a long-time volunteer for the Diabetes Association of America. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a dedicated grandmother. She was generous with her love, understanding and physical contributions to the well-being of her family. She will be missed, long and often,  and remembered always for her strength and belief in God, family and community. The family request no flowers, and that donations and memorials be made to the Shelter Home of Caldwell County for Abused Women at P.O. Box 426, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to the cemetery fund for Shiloh Methodist Church. A funeral service for Mrs. Laws will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at 2:00PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Officiating will be Thomas Sherrod and Reverend Jeff Luxon. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Mitchell, Patrick McNeill, Timothy McNeill, Joseph McNeill, Christopher Roberts, and Jacob Mitchell. Online condolences can be sent to the Laws family at www.evansfuneralservice.com. Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir is serving the Laws family.
