Lucille Black Goble

January 4, 1951 — April 18, 2014

Lucille “Elaine” Black Goble, 63, of Lenoir, NC, went to meet her Heavenly Father on Friday morning, April 18, 2014. Elaine was the daughter of Lee Fewell Black, Jr. and Lucille Grayson Black. For 41 years, she was married to Terry Lee Goble of Lenoir. She had three daughters, Deanna Elaine Goble, Amanda Goble Franks and Rebecca Ruth Goble. She had two brothers: Edmond Black, deceased and Rick Black of Seneca, SC. She had seven grandchildren: Camille Shade, Jocelynn Bristol, Brennen Bristol, Rhylee Goble, Nataleigh Goble, Kaleb Franks and Grayson Franks. Elaine was born in York, SC and raised in Clover, SC. She received her education in nursing from Presbyterian Hospital. She practiced in many diverse settings. She found her calling in psychiatric and geriatric nursing. She retired from Smoky Mountain Center in November at which time she was sharing her knowledge and expertise with her community. She touched many lives in the years and settings in which she worked. The joy of Elaine’s life was her family: her beloved husband, daughters and grandchildren. She spent her time with them, traveling the country and reading her books. She was a dear friend and cherished those moments with those she held dear. Elaine respected the innate dignity of people from every walk of life. She was a helper and a giver. She loved to laugh and was most comfortable surrounded by the laughter of others. She was kind, compassionate and outspoken. She had a special mannerism, unlike that of any other, of tackling challenges, hardship and change with grace and ease. Those who knew her said that she was an angel-a light in the dark. She was all things… a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, an aunt, a best friend-but most of all she was brave. She was a warrior of the best kind. Services will be held at Bellview Cemetery in Lenoir, NC, on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 1pm at her graveside. Her family will receive friends at her home at 2348 Cedar Rock Circle, Lenoir, NC following graveside services. Flowers will be accepted at her home and memorial gifts may be made to Caldwell Hospice in Lenoir, NC. Condolences may be expressed online at www.evansfuneralservice.com PDF Printable Version
