Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Louise Colvard Wallace, age 87, of Hudson, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Gateway Nursing Center. Born June 1, 1921 in Wilkes County, Mrs. Wallace was a daughter of the late Curtis Worth and Mary Lou Brown Colvard and the wife of the late Ora Van Wallace to whom she was married 67 years. Mrs. Wallace was a wonderful mother and friend. She loved to cook and always had a variety of delicious foods ready for the family or any visitor who dropped in. She loved her family and in her later years looked forward to the visits of her grandchildren. Before declining health set in, she enjoyed tending her garden with husband, Ora Van Wallace. Louise was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Hudson, NC and she enjoyed attending church with her family and studying GOD?S WORD. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Worth, Walt and Earl Colvard and two sisters, Hessie Owens and Laura Warner. She is survived by three daughters, Scottie Wallace Shaver of Hudson; Ginger Wallace Crisp of Lawrenceville, GA; Shelby Jean Wallace Griffin of Morganton; two sons, Lonnie D. Wallace of Lenoir; Van J. Wallace of Cary; Grandchildren, Susan Griffin Deal, Jeffrey Griffin, David Griffin, Ashley Shaver Hamilton, Karey Shaver Frye, Clay Crisp, Reggie Wallace, Brianna Wallace and Great-Grandchildren, Michael Zimmer, Meredith Rader and Ethan Rader. A celebration of Mrs. Wallace?s life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Hudson. Burial will follow in the Sardis Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 until 9 PM at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir. Pallbearers will be: Doug Story, Reggie Wallace, Jerry Greene, Bruce Staton, Ben Davis and Nelson Watson. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Clay Crisp, Jeffery Griffin and The Fellowship Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or First Baptist Church of Hudson, 345 Main Street, Hudson, NC 28638.
