Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Lorraine Carpenter Collins, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Detroit, MI on April 2, 1929 to the late Burl Carpenter and Zora Plemmons Carpenter. Mrs. Collins retired from Caldwell Senior Center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ward Collins; daughter, Cynthia Collins Woodcock; and brothers, Haskell Carpenter and Colin Carpenter. She is survived by her daughters, Jackie Storie, Rebecca Collins, Karen Evans and husband, Thomas; brothers, Gordon Carpenter and wife, Sandy; Carroll Carpenter and wife, Carolyn; sisters, Marlene Lambert; Sybil Carpenter Hobbs and husband, Stuart; and Sylvia Carpenter; grandchildren, Michelle Hall; Matthew Hall; Bart Woodcock; Crystal Martin; Melonie Pipes; Amanda Vittitow and husband, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Matison Hall; Dylan Woodcock; Devin Woodcock; Dalton Inman; Collin Inman; and Elijah Vittitow; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mrs. Collins life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jim Lee officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
