Lenoir – Mrs. Lorena Buchanan Clark, age 84, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. She was born in Johnson City, TN to the late Bascom Buchanan and Bessie Broyles Buchanan. She was married to Leon Clark of the residence for almost 64 years. Mrs. Clark joined Trinity United Methodist Church shortly after marrying and was a member of the choir for most of her time there. She was a long-time member of the Red Hat Society and a member of the Cedar Rock Country Club Golf Association and Garden Club. She was an avid supporter of the sports her children and grandchildren participated in and she enjoyed listening and dancing to her country music. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Buchanan; sisters, Edith Buchanan Greer, Clella Buchanan Cole and Peggy Buchanan Hallow. Other than her husband, Mrs. Clark is survived by her children, David Clark and wife, Kathy of Newark, DE; Lori Harless and husband, Chuck of Charlotte; Jodi Sanders and husband, Regan of Lenoir; brothers, Lewis Buchanan and wife, Lucy of Roanoke, VA; Wayne Buchanan and wife, Sallie of Hoover, AL; Bruce Buchanan and wife, Mollie of Destin, FL; sisters, Wilma Buchanan McGinnis and husband, James of Lenoir; and Diane Buchanan Oliver of Morganton; grandchildren, Adam Clark; Hilary Clark Hartnett and husband, Bobby; Myra Clark; Jordan Harless; Ryan Harless; Lydia Sanders; and Kelli Sanders; great-grandchildren, Ethan Clark, Julian Clark and Everlee Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A celebration of Mrs. Clark’s life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Uiyeon Kim and Reverend Joe Parker officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
