Lonnie Edward Starnes

Lonnie Edward Starnes, 82, of Granite Falls, NC, passed into the arms of Jesus while surrounded by his family.

Lonnie was born to Shafter and Irene Starnes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Derrick Paul Starnes; three brothers, Alden, Adrian, and Howard; one sister, Sadie Austin.

Those left to cherish Lonnie’s memory, his wonderful wife of 62 years, Jeanette; daughter, Twyla and husband Terry Myers; sons, Nick Starnes, Patrick and wife April; and a bonus son, Ismael Vega; his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Lonnie was a farmer all his life.  His farm was honored as a 100-year-old family farm.  He loved the land and he loved to be outside.  Lonnie was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He made a yearly visit to Kansas to hunt pheasant for over 45 years.  He was well known for his watermelons and cantaloupes. Lonnie was a life time member of Dudley Shoals Baptist Church.

Lonnie’s family would like to thank Amorem (formerly Caldwell Hospice) for the love and support they provided during this time.  They would like to especially thank his caregiver team; Roxanne Elmore, Ariana Trejo and Stacy Wichie.

A receiving of family and friends will be on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church from 12:30 PM to 2:00PM.

A celebration of Lonnie’s life will be held Monday, November 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church with Reverend Kyle Lloyd.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Amorem.
