Lola Townsend

Hudson, NC- Mrs. Lola Lilac Townsend, age 92, of Hudson, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Shaire Center in Hudson. Lola was a daughter of the late Thomas Joe and Charlotte Aldridge Gragg.  She was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. She had worked many years as a cook at Sawmill Elementary School and also a childcare provider in her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ted Denver Townsend; Three sisters and brothers in law, Flo and Claude Shores, Violet and Frank Eggers, and Madge and Howard Townsend; and three brothers, Rom Gragg, Bloome Bragg, and Tolsie Gragg. Mrs. Townsend is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Jerry D. and Mary Jane Townsend of Hudson, and Tommy Joe Townsend of Paul?s Valley, OK; One brother and sister in law, Doyle and Anne Gragg of Elizabethton, TN; Three grandsons and granddaughters in law, Mark and Corinne Townsend of Hudson, Brent and Tena Townsend of Lenoir, and Keith Townsend of Paul?s Valley, OK; One Granddaughter and grandson in law, Debbie and Jeff Sides of Granite Falls. A funeral service for Mrs. Townsend will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Noon at Harris Chapel Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Edd Warren and Dr. D. Rick Crouse, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM prior to the service.
