Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Lois Clark Arney, age 84, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her home. Born September 14, 1929 in Burke County, Mrs. Arney was a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Cordie Berry Clark and the wife of the late John Ernest Arney. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Melissa Arney Roberts and Robert Ernest Arney and one sister, Brenda Crowe. Mrs. Arney was raised in Maiden and the Hartland Community of Burke County. She was a member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Dennis Arney and wife Helen of Lenoir; sister, Joyce LeFever of Lenoir; Sister-in-law, Ethel Arney, 2 Brothers-in-law, Kenneth Tallent and Ted Crowe; 7 Grandchildren, April Arney, John Arney, Diana Brown, Michael Roberts, Crystal Kennedy, Jason Arney, Daniel Arney, Timothy Arney, and several Great-Grandchildren including Gavin Arney, Madi Grace Arney, Clark Roberts, Dallis Roberts, Jacoby Kennedy, Jackie Ledford, Casey Ledford, Justin Ledford and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of Mrs. Arney’s life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 28, 2014 at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Shoffner officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 5:00 until 6:30 PM at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir. The family respectfully requests memorials be made to Flemings Chapel Baptist Church, 4459 Littlejohn Church Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
