Linda "Granny" Wooten Helton

Linda “Granny” Wooten Helton, 86, of Lenoir, NC went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2023.

Linda was born on July 31, 1937 to the late Lloyd and Catherine Wooten.

In addition to Linda’s parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. “Paw” Helton; her sister, Lucy McGuire; and her brothers, Ryan Wooten and Charles Wooten.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Elizabeth Price (John), Cynthia Potter (Johnny), Debra Johnson (Keith); sons, William “George” Helton, Steven Helton, and Seth Whisenant (Penny); grandchildren, Ashley Smith, Clint Price, Caleb Rogers, David Rogers, Jennifer Johnson, Katie Price; great-grandchildren, Gunner Smith, Levi Rogers, Gage Mclean; sister, Mabel Dale; honorary family member, Krista Hamby; and pall bearers, Seth Whisenant, Shannon Dunn, Clint Price, Chris Smith, Gunner Smith, David Rogers, Johnny Potter, and Keith Johnson.

Linda was a strong and spirited woman who cared deeply for her friends and family. She was also extremely generous to anyone in need.  She loved to travel whenever she had the chance and always had a book in her hand, usually a mystery novel. She was an avid cross-stitcher and lover of sweets, especially ice-cream.  She was a lifetime member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church.

A 2:00 PM visitation for Linda “Granny” Helton will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Cedar Rock Baptist Church with a service following at 3:00 PM. She will be interned at Blue Ridge Memorial Park directly after the service.
