Lillian Kent Setzer

Lenoir, NC- Lillian Kent Setzer, 88 of Lenoir, passed away at Gateway Nursing Center on May 14, 2011. She was born in Lenoir on March 15, 1923, to the late Robert A. Kent, Sr. and Zella Anderson Kent. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Anne Setzer, three brothers, Robert “Bob” A. Kent, Jr., William “Bill” F. Kent, Sr., and James “Jim” Kent, Sr., and five sisters, Virginia K. Oxford, Roberta K. Bare,  Anne K. Hickman, Julia K. Watkins and Ruby K. Lamkin. Mrs. Setzer is survived by her husband of 60 years, Mr. Benjamin R. Setzer and one son, James D. Setzer. She is also survived by one brother, Horry M. Kent, Sr. and one sister, Jerri K. Heltzer, both of Lenoir. Mrs. Setzer graduated from Collettsville High School and Appalachian State Teachers College in 1943. She served as a teacher in the Caldwell County School System for 33 years. Mrs. Setzer was a member of the First Advent Christian Church of Lenoir. A celebration of Mrs. Setzer’s life will be held at First Advent Christian Church of Lenoir at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18th. Reverend Bob Hodges will conduct the celebration. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir immediately following the service. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of First Advent Christian Church of Lenoir beginning at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Mrs. Setzer’s nephews, Robert Kent, III, James Kent, Jr., Horry Kent, Jr., Michael Kent, William Kent, Jr., Charles Watkins, Timothy Barlow and David Kent will be serving as pallbearers.
