Libby Wells Coffey

Granite Falls – Libby Cheryl Wells Coffey, age 69, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital. Born July 12, 1946 in Wise County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Helen Maples Wells.Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Elaine Snodgrass.Libby was employed with Frye Regional Medical Center as an inpatient coder.She is survived by her husband, James Coffey; her son, Robert Wayne Snodgrass of Hickory; four step-sons, Mike Coffey and wife Cheryl of Lenoir; James Coffey, Jr. and wife Kim of Pensacola, FL; Troy Coffey and wife Sue of Richmond, VA; Jesse Coffey and wife Jessica of Granite Falls; four siblings, Teresa Bush, Barry Wells and wife Martha, Dennis “Dino” Wells and wife Sue, Doug “Peewee” Wells and wife Lynn, all of Wise County, VA; one grandson, Travis Snodgrass; 10 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir, Monday, January 25, 2016 from 5:30 until 7:00 PM.Funeral Services will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Gilliam Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. The family will receive friends there, one hour prior to the service.
