Lawrence “Buddy” Winkler Curtis, 79, of Lenoir passed away October 9, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. He was born November 4, 1934 in Caldwell County, son of the late Lawrence Julius Curtis and Allie Winkler Curtis. He was a loving and dedicated husband and father with a great love of the outdoors, and had a willing, giving spirit to put all others before himself. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell Curtis and J.C. Curtis. Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Margaret Ritch Curtis, two sons, Laurin D. Curtis and fiancé June Durham of Stony Point and Bryan A. Curtis of the home; grandchildren, Isaiah Curtis, Journey Curtis, Ashton Curtis, Logan Durham and Tanner Watson. Brothers, Robert L. Curtis Sr. of Lenoir, Charles A. Curtis of Lenoir and a sister Vernie C. Alspaugh of Boone. A receiving of family and friends will be held on October 17, 2014, from 4-5 pm with a memorial service immediately following. All services will be held at Resurrection Hope Church of God in Lenoir.
