Larry "Shorty" Scarberry

Larry “Shorty” Scarberry, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Buchanan County, VA on January 2, 1951 to the late Joe Scarberry and Evia Meade Scarberry. Shorty was married to Joyce Watson Scarberry, of the residence, for 50 years.

Shorty was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and he had the strongest faith in God. He never gave up through his sickness and the trials that came with it.   He loved his family and was a devoted man of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jackie Scarberry, Roger Scarberry; and sister, Geneva Scarberry Dunford.

Other than his wife, Joyce, Shorty is survived by his sons, James Lee Watson and wife, Rebecca; Larry Daniel Scarberry and wife, Tammy; Billy Len Scarberry; daughter, Ruby Scarberry Larmore; grandchildren, Megan Scarberry; Joshua Scarberry; Virginia Scarberry, Luke Scarberry; Billy Scarberry; Eli Scarberry; Lilly Scarberry; Ella Larmore; Addyson Larmore; brothers, Clifford Scarberry; Johnny Scarberry and wife, Judy; sisters, Reba Scarberry Steffey; Sue Scarberry Maddy and husband, Tracy; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

A memorial service will be held at Abundant Life Church of God on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Pastor James Lopes and Reverend Daniel Scarberry officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 prior to the service.

The church is located at 333 Cedar Valley Road, Hudson, NC  28638.
