Hudson, NC-Larry Edward Ollis, 67, of Hudson, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 29, 2010 after an extended illness. He was a loving husband and caring grandfather who will be missed greatly by his family. He was born November 12, 1942 in Mitchell County to the late Earnest Ollis and Ethel Garrison Ollis. Larry was united in marriage to Loretta Haynes of Whitnel in 1982. He worked at Thomasville Furniture and Hammary Furniture for over 30 years as a supervisor before entering retirement. Larry had a passion for spending time with his grandson, Mason. They enjoyed deer hunting and farming and took pleasure in gardening during the summer months. He also enjoyed attending Zion Road Baptist Church in Drexel where he was a member. Larry is survived by his wife, Loretta; a step-son, Gregory Bean and wife Tessa of Hudson; a grandson, Mason Bean of Hudson; two brothers, Lloyd Ollis and wife Brenda of Newland, Lake Ollis and wife Rosalie of Newland; three sisters, Helen Pritchard and husband Steve of Morganton, Linda Butler and husband Buck of Morganton, Lora Barrier and her special friend Tim Banner of Morganton; and other relatives and friends. Larry?s family will be receiving friends and family members at Evans Funeral Service in Lenoir, N.C., Wednesday, March 31, from 1:00 until 2:00 with the funeral to follow. Rev. Micah Piercy and Rev. Darvy Hensley will be officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Tim Banner, Buck Butler, Cecil Haynes, Howard Haynes, James Hutchins, and Joey Oxford.
