Lala Ruppard Lunsford

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Lala Ruppard Lunsford, age 92, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Gateway Nursing and Rehab. Mrs. Lunsford was born February 11, 1919 in Watauga County to the late Toy and Gypsy Ruppard. She was a beloved member of Clearview Baptist Church of Lenoir. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lunsford was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Hansford A. Lunsford, one sister, Irene Taylor, and two brothers, Jack Ruppard and Dennis Ruppard. Survivors include her five children, Retha Dula, husband John, of Lenoir, Ruth Lail of Granite Falls, Polly Lunsford of Hudson, Thomas Lunsford of Hudson, and Johnny Lunsford of Granite Falls; three sisters, Kate Robbins, Lena Robbins, and Betty Pitts, and one brother, Frank Ruppard; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Services for Mrs. Lunsford will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Officiating will be Rev. Keith Phelps and Rev. John Pritchard. Entombment will follow the service at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of John and Retha Dula, 2385 Alfred Hartley Road, Lenoir.
