Kenneth Paul Kufahl

October 19, 1940 — July 20, 2018

Kenneth Paul Kufahl, age 77 passed away at Caldwell Hospice on Friday, July 20th surrounded by family. He was born on October 19, 1940 in Queens, NY to Helen and Monty Kufahl. He married Cheryl Harder on December 30th 1962. Kenneth had his own business in Guilford, CT until they moved to Conover, NC in 1975 to run Lake Hickory Campground and work at Frye Regional Medical Center.The next stop was Sarasota, FL where he worked for The Colony Beach and Tennis Resort. Following a stroke in 2012, Ken and Cheryl returned to Lenoir to be closer to family. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Cheryl Kufahl of the home, Dawn (David) Hagood of Elkmont, AL, Cherie (Jeff) Goodson of Statesville, Bonnie (Richie) Rich of Lenoir, Kenneth (Erica) Kufahl II of Santee, CA and Ryan (Dawn) Kufahl of Statesville.They were blessed with 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Even with limited abilities Kenneth had a wonderful sense of humor and remained the Patriarch of the family. A private celebration of life will be held at Wilson’s Creek. Kenneth was a world traveler and he always said Wilson’s Creek was his Heaven on Earth. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Caldwell Habitat for Humanity, 1216 Harper Ave. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645; and Caldwell Hospice, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC28645.
