Kenneth Houston Harris

September 30, 1935 — March 19, 2015

Kenneth Houston Harris, 79, of Horseshoe Bend Rd, Hudson, passed away in his home on Thursday, March 19, 2015. Kenneth was a son of the late Herndon and Bertie Minton Harris and the husband to the love of his life, Shelba Jean Saunders Harris, whom he would have shared 60 years of Marriage on July 31, 2015. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a son in law, David Burris; grandson Jason Carter; three sisters, Virginia Mikeal, Ruby Triplett, Joyce Koker; and three brothers, Merle Harris, Jennings Harris, and J.B. Harris Kenneth was born on September 30, 1935 in Caldwell County, and retired after many years of working in upholstery for Hickory Business Furniture.In addition to his work he was also a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher until his illness.In his free time he often enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing cards with friends. In addition to his wife, Shelba, he is survived by his four children, Wanda Cannon and husband Bill of Icard, Kathy Burris and Fiancé Bud of Hickory, Lisa King and husband Timmy of Hudson, Kenny Harris and wife Lorie of Conover; two sisters, Betty Beard of Hudson, Lucille Bryant of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Christopher Carter and wife Linda, Tyra Dotson and husband Kenny, Chelene Stone and husband Jay, and Tonya King and fiancé Mike.He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Chase, Destiny, Ashley, Jakob, Jordon, Savanna, Jonathan, Kaidyn, Chloe, Cooper, Ivee, and Lillian. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Reverend John Gray and Reverend Hubert Shew officiating.Burial will follow immediately at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The Family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30PM-3:00PM March 22, 2015 at the church. Pallbearers will include, Chris Carter, Chase Carter, Jay Stone, Mike Drumm, Kenny Dotson and Steven Scronce. The family respectfully request memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
