Katrina Barnes Hooper

Lenoir, NC- Mrs. Katrina Barnes Hooper, age 71, of Lenoir, formerly of Marion, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born April 22, 1941 in Wilkes County, Katrina was a daughter of the late Harry and Irene Carlton Barnes. Katrina had worked for several years at the Marion Manufactory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Austin Hooper; a son, Walter Ali Hooper; three brothers, Reverend Harry Gene Barnes, Don Barnes, and Charlie Barnes. Left to cherish her loving, funny memories are four brothers, Harvel Barnes, Carl Barnes of Lenoir, Willard Barnes of Milwake, WI, 1st Sergeant Garrie Barnes of Seoul Korea; two sisters, Louella Dula of Hudson and Juliette Barnes Harshaw of Memphis, TN and a grand circle of nieces and nephews. A celebration of Katrina’s life will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Addie’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Marion, NC. Officiating will be Reverend Luther Gamble and Dr. Carl Manuel. Interment will follow the service in the Brackett Town cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Louella Dula at 507 Kirkland Avenue, Hudson, NC Memorials can be made to the Feed the Children organization at PO Box 36, Oklahoma City, OK 73101.
