Katie Bradshaw

Lenoir- Katie Clark Welch Bradshaw, age 84, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Avery County on September 10, 1934 to the late Edmond and Jeanette Clark. Katie worked at Blue Bell during her early years and later met her husband, Gene, while working at Crestline Furniture in Valdese. Katie was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her family. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her flowers and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed collecting dolls. It has been said by those who knew Katie that no one knew how to love the way she did. She made strangers feel like family and family feel like they were the most important people in the world because to her they were. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Howard Welch; son, Frankie Welch; brothers, Aldred and Jimmy Clark; Dallas and Wonzal Crowe; and sister, Vivian Crowe Shatley. Katie is survived by her husband, Gene Bradshaw; son, Tommy Welch and wife, April; daughter, Katrine Welch Vivona; son, Roger Bradshaw and wife, Michelle; brother, Creed Clark and wife, Janice; sisters, Janet Sweet and husband, Leroy; Yvonne Effler and husband, Frank; Wanda Smith and husband, Howard and Norma C. Shoemake; grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew and Christopher Vivona; Kaitlyn Bradshaw and Thomas Welch II; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Hunter Jolly; Isabelle, Elijah and Isaiah Vivona; and Ryan and Gabriel; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Katie will be held at North Catawba Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Howard Smith and Pastor David Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
