Kathryn Middleton Barlowe, 88, of School Dr., Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 after a brief illness.She was born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina on January 23, 1926.She was the daughter of William Hildreth Middleton and Beulah Brigman Middleton. She was a graduate of Pfieffer College and Lenoir Rhyne College. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Lenoir, North Carolina where she met her husband, Horace Gwynn Barlowe, Jr., and became a public school teacher in Caldwell County for 34 years. After retirement and her husband’s death, she moved to Taylorsville, North Carolina where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, her husband, Horace Gwynn Barlowe Jr. and her two brothers, Dr. Lawrence Perry Middleton and William Middleton, preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Michael Barlowe, of Hickory, North Carolina, two daughters, Rosalyn Kerins and husband Kelly of Chicago, Illinois, Barbara “Babs” Odom and husband Mark of Taylorsville, North Carolina, four grandchildren, Sam Kerins of Chicago, Illinois, Sara Barlowe of New York City, New York, , Anna and William Odum of Taylorsville, North Carolina, a sister in law, Ruth Middleton of Cheraw, South Carolina, and a beloved aunt to Billy, Joe and Jon Middleton, Eliza Sutherland and Thomas Middleton. There will be a graveside service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, North Carolina at 2:30pm, Wednesday January 14, 2015. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 5:00pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Taylorsville, North Carolina, officiated by the Reverend Josh Sherfey. There will be a reception immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at First United Methodist Church in Taylorsville, North Carolina.
