Hudson – Kathryn Alexander Cloer, age 89, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Caldwell County on October 31, 1931 to the late Watson and Nellie Alexander. She was married to Boyd Cloer of the residence for 70 years. Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her family and church family. She also enjoyed working on her crafts, singing and helping others. She was a long-time member of Friendship Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Ann Shives and husband, Wayne of Taylorsville; Donna Holman and husband, Ronnie of Granite Falls; sister, Doris McClure of Virginia; grandchildren, Travis Holman; Erin Hamby and husband, Cory; Kamie Pitts and husband, Chris; and Miranda Shives; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service celebrating Kathryn’s life will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Larry Turner, Reverend Robert Livingston and Chaplain Terry Barnes officiating. Kathryn will lie in state in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 1:00 until 2:30 PM.
