Katherine Angley Canipe

Katherine “Kat” Angley Canipe passed from this life to life eternal with her Heavenly Father on July 10, 2022. Kat was born on June 24, 1927 in Lenoir, North Carolina to Henry Angley and Addie Prestwood Angley. She was the fourteenth child of their fourteen children. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 69 years, Hugh Edgar Canipe, and twelve of her siblings. Kat is survived by her beloved sister, Betty Angley Reary of Pfafftown, NC, her daughter, Ann Canipe Spann and husband Phillip “JR” Spann, Jr., son Samuel Edgar Canipe and wife Linda Cook Canipe, all of Lenoir, NC, grandchildren Holly Pritchard of Kennebunkport, Maine, and Mason Pritchard of Lenoir, NC. Also surviving are step-grandchildren Grayson Spann, Gregg Cook and wife, Amy, Lori Wade and husband, Andrew, and step-great-grandchildren Hunter Cook and wife, Morgan, and Jake Cook. Kat was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who dedicated her life to providing a stable and loving Christian home for her family. Known for her quick wit and sweet tea Kat never met a stranger and was always eager to greet anyone who stopped by to visit. Most of all, Kat was a dedicated life-long member of First Baptist Church Lenoir and was active in the choir for over 70 years until her health prevented her from singing. A celebration of Kat’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church Lenoir officiated by Rev. Josh Hughes and Dr. David Smith. The family will receive friends at 1:00pm in the church parlor prior to the service. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to FBC Lenoir Music Fund, or Amorem, formerly Hospice of Lenoir.
