Karen J. Melton

Lenoir, NC- Karen J. Melton, age 66, of Walker Circle, Lenoir was called to her Heavenly home, Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was born November 19, 1947 in Caldwell County to the late James C. Melton and Barbara Cavin Melton Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her Step-Father, Lonnie M. Williams. Karen was an employee of Wal-Mart in Granite Falls. She was a selfless caregiver to many family members. Her happiness was found in the simple things in life such as animals, flowers, snowy days, good food and family. Her zest for life and humor will be missed. She had such a giving spirit. Surviving include one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Price and husband Ralph of Lenoir; one Granddaughter, Meagan Chester of South Carolina; one sister, Sharen Steele and husband Lynn of Lenoir; Niece, Lynsey Steele; special cousins, Ruby Warnock and Janice Leatherman, all of Lenoir and faithful friends Evelyn May and Amy Stewart of Morganton. Karen’s passing will leave a great void in the lives of those that loved her. She was a Baptist by faith and kept steadfast to her strong beliefs. Upon Karen’s request, there will be a private memorial service for immediate family scheduled at a later date. Her wish was for ashes to be scattered at a particular spot where she had fond childhood memories.
