Karen Barlow Hartley

Karen Barlow Hartley, age 64, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, September 4, 2023 at Caldwell UNC Health. She was born in Catawba County on April 3, 1959 to the late Clarence and Sheila Woodie Barlow. She was married to Terry Hartley of the home for almost 40 years.

Karen was a licensed cosmetologist and was an instructor with Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute. She had many hobbies, including cooking, baking, making jewelry and going on cruises. Her Boston terriers, particularly, Shellie, were her constant companions.

In addition to her husband, Karen is survived by her son, Zachary Hartley; brother, Kevin Barlow and wife, Lisa; nephew, Wesley Barlow and wife, Jennifer; niece, Amy Barlow Bucher and husband, Eric; and five great-nephews and one great- niece.

A celebration of Karen’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Darren Peterson officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 prior to the service.
