Karen Jeanette Day Smith

Hudson, NC- Mrs. Karen Jeanette Day Smith age 59, of Hudson, died Saturday, May 23, 2009. Born February 4, 1950 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of the late Ralen Lee and Margaret Pritchard Day and the wife of Jerry Lee Smith of Hudson. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her Granddaughter, Kara Brooke Chandler.  Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and member of West Lenoir Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.  Other than her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Alicia Smith Chandler and husband Charlie of Granite Falls; 4 brothers, Melvin Day and wife Becky; Larry Day and wife Tammy; Kevin Dale Day and Ken Day, all of Lenoir, one Granddaughter, Cressinda Lee Chandler of Granite Falls and her adopted daughter, Barbara Kirby and husband Fred of Vale.  A service to celebrate Mrs. Smith’s life will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at West Lenoir Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Safriet, Reverend James Lockee and Reverend Randy Gibson officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM at West Lenoir Baptist Church.  A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at Worship Point Baptist Church Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to: Gideon’s International, PO Box 169, Lenoir, NC 28645.  Online condolences may be sent to the Smith Family at www.evansfuneralservice.com  Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir is serving the Smith Family.
