Lenoir, NC – Mrs. Julia Ann Burress Sutton, age 98, of Lenoir, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born February 1, 1913 in Cataloochee, North Carolina, Julia was a daughter of the late Dock and Mattie Lochman Burress. Julia was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Sutton; a son and daughter in law, Carroll Sutton, Sr. and his wife, Judy Byerly Sutton; she was also preceded in death by a number of siblings. Survivors include two granddaughters, Teresa and Allen Huffman of Hildebran, and Caroline Sutton of Virginia; two grandsons, Carroll Sutton, Jr. of Texas, and Donald Sutton of Granite Falls; her great grandchildren, Shaun Daniels of Granite Falls, Roger Lee Sutton of Raleigh, and Amanda Sutton of Kansas; one great great grandson, Kyler Gillespie; a brother, Horace Burress of Tennessee; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Julia’s life will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service.  Officiating will be Reverend Gurney Robbins.  Interment will follow the service at the Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Sutton, Roger Lee Sutton, Shaun Daniels, Dennis Watson, Hugh Burress, and Hilliard Burress. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Memorials can be made to Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
