Hudson, NC – Mrs. Judy Bumgarner Winkler, age 77, of Hudson, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by her children. Born January 21, 1944 in Caldwell County, she was the daughter of Ted and Marie Shook Bumgarner. Judy was a retired homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her earlier years, she worked in secretarial work at MDI and then later in retail. Mrs. Winkler was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude “Heavy” Winkler, and brother, James Danny (Tom) Bumgarner. She is survived by her three children, Kelly W. Winkler and wife Beverly of Hudson, C. Alan Winkler of Granite Falls and Annette Winkler of Hudson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, who she was very proud of, Tyler Winkler, Jared Winkler, Trevor Hicks, Ashly Wilson, Nikki Hicks, Nickolas Winkler, Jeremy Winkler, and Rachel Hicks. She had six great grandchildren who were the light of her life; Aly Bentley, Laney Main, Jada Hicks, Hadley Wilkie, Scarlett Hicks, Cadence Winkler and baby Oliver will be arriving in January.She is also survived by a brother, Jerry Bumgarner and wife Judy of Hudson, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2:00 in the afternoon at Center Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Chris Helderman officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church arbor, outdoors. The family respectfully asks anyone who wishes to attend Mrs. Winkler’s service or receiving please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Also, due to COVID, the family understands family and friends may not feel comfortable attending.
