Judy Christine Gragg Austin

Judy Gragg Austin, age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at her residence. She was born in Avery County on May 14, 1953 to Mary Christine Gragg and the late Arvil Jack Gragg. She was married to Tommy Austin of the home for 55 years.

Judy retired from the Caldwell County School System after 22 years as a teacher assistant. She was a member of Nelson’s Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Arvil Gragg.

Other than her husband and mother,  she is survived by her children, Thomas Austin, III and wife, Jennifer of Mebane, NC; Alicia Austin of Montpellier, France; grandchildren, Thomas Caden Austin; Evan James Austin; and Lilli Ann Livet.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at Harper’s Chapel Methodist Church on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ron Setzer, Pastor David Gragg and Pastor Donald Gragg officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Austin, Thomas Austin, III, Caden Austin, Evan Austin, Keith Smith, Sam Bryant and John Smith.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
