Juanita Cantor Smith

Mrs. Juanita Cantor Smith, age 83, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice in Hudson. Born April 23, 1935 in Caldwell County, Juanita was a daughter of the late Vernon and Alma McMillan Cantor.She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher along with the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary.Other things she enjoyed included bowling and traveling.In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters. Surviving relatives include her husband of 65 years, Plaze Smith of the Home; a son, Leslie Smith (wife Barbra); her grandchildren, Kimberly Rayfield, Jennifer Smith; two great grandchildren, Jacob Rayfield and Gracelyn Rayfield; two brothers, Vernon Cantor, Jr. and Douglas Cantor; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A memorial service celebrating Juanita’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Chuck Brawley officiating. The family will receive friend prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the College Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund at 1201 College Avenue SW, Lenoir, NC28645.
