Joyce Gaynell Deaton

Gaynell Deaton Granite Falls, NC –  Mrs. Joyce Gaynell Severt Deaton, age 72, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born in Caldwell County on March 26, 1940 to the late Earl Wiley Severt and Mamie Crane Severt. She was married to the late Frank McDowell Deaton. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Lee Deaton and her brother, Benny Severt. She is survived by her son, Frank D. Deaton and wife, Kathy; son, Michael Shane Deaton; daughter, Lisa Ann Helms and husband, Aaron; sisters, Virginia Diane Wilson and Effie Nadine Chester; brothers, Charles Barton Severt, Earl Bobby Severt, and Wiley Bruce Severt; grandchildren, Angela, Megan, Shauna, Tyler, Skylar, Carson, and MaKenna; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Makaya; and her sister-in-law, Jean Phillips. A celebration of Mrs. Deaton’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Whittington, Jack Wilson, Adam Severt, David Severt, Matt Helms, and Scott Helms. Honorary pallbearers will be: Bobby Severt, Bart Severt, and Bruce Severt. The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 6:00 until 7:30 PM.
