Joshua Thomas Gurley

Joshua Thomas Gurley, age 33, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born in Caldwell County to Tommy Gurley and Dawn Thomas Cline. He was married to Kelsey Gragg Gurley.

Josh graduated from West Caldwell High School with honors and received a full scholarship to North Carolina State University to study engineering. He later attended Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute where he graduated from the linesman program. Josh was also one of the first high school volunteers with Caldwell Hospice, where he and his Gramps completed several projects. He was a member at Unity Baptist Church in Patterson.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Chris Cline; paternal grandfather, Paul Gurley; and maternal grandparents, Blaine and Jerri Thomas.

In addition to his parents and wife, Josh is survived by his daughter, Nadia Abigail Gurley and son, Ryker Thomas Gurley; brother, Dylan Gurley; stepmother, Lisa Gurley; step-brother, Brandon Moore and Kristen; grandmother, Sue Gurley; aunts, Paula Gurley; Donna Greer; Penny Reid; Brenda Coffey and Pamela Thomas; and numerous other family and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Josh’s life will be held at Mountain View Baptist Church in Lenoir on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Gragg, Pastor Jeff Hoyle and Preacher Tommy Gurley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be sent to Amorem, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC  28645.
