Lenoir, NC- Mr. Joseph Elbert Coffey, age 66, of Lenoir, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care. Born April 9, 1944 in Watauga County, Joseph was a son of the late Joseph Howard and Florence Hartley Coffey. He has lived most of his life in Caldwell County. He worked for many years with the Singer Furniture Company. He had a HVAC license and worked in the heating and air business for Johnson Electric. He attended Grandview Baptist Church. He loved fishing and watching football and racing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Leland Coffey; and one sister, Mary Oleen Tolbert. He is survived by his wife, Polly Coffey of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lisa C. Coffey of Lenoir, and Candice and Todd Anders of Lenoir; one son, Joseph Darren Coffey of Lenoir; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen Hennessee of Granite Falls, Willa and Allen Tolbert of Charlotte, and Doris and Ray Hawkins of Lenoir; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Mary Coffey of Hickory, Russell and Sonya Coffey of Lenoir, Ronald and Bonnie Coffey of Aiken, SC, Robert and Gail Coffey of Boone, and Kenneth Coffey of Granite Falls; four grandchildren, Tyler Harris, Savannah Coffey, Jacob Coffey, and Ethan Anders; he is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Joseph?s life will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Grandview Baptist Church with Reverend Raymond Spann officiating. Interment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Coffey, Brian Coffey, Todd Hawkins, Caleb Coffey, Joey Greene, Kelly Coffey, Mark Coffey. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Memorials can be sent to Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund at 2553 Grandview Circle, Lenoir, NC 28645 or to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
