Johnny Koeun, 63, of Lenoir, NC, passed away on October 25, 2020 after a valiant battle with COVID-19. Johnny was born on May 5th, 1957 in Cambodia.He moved to the United States with his family in the mid-1980’s to Memphis, TN.Most of his time in the U.S. was lived in Memphis, TN. He leaves behind his loving wife Voeun Koeun of 40+ years! 4 daughters and 2 son-in-laws; Renee Koeun, Roeun Koeun, Chantha and Kenneth Caruthers, and Veasna Koeun and Adam Hicks. Johnny had 6 grandchildren; Erick Koeun, Peyton Caruthers, Pierce Caruthers, Palmer Caruthers, Ayden Hicks, and a 6th grandchild soon-to-be born. Johnny enjoyed and was an avid gardener.He had a green thumb and could grow almost anything.Corn was one of his favorites to grow and especially to grill and eat! Grilling out and BBQing on a frequent basis in the back yard was a passion of his.You could see his smoke plume and smell the food grilling from a distance before actually getting to the house!He totally had a gift & skill with the charcoal grill in getting it perfect and grilling anything perfectly! Johnny was a devoted Christian man who loved reading in his Bible and time spent in prayer!He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family! In the last few years after having moved from Memphis, TN to Lenoir, NC he enjoyed those years of his retirement and spent time with family and enjoyed the relaxing routine of gardening, grilling, and spending time reading in his Bible. Johnny’s story is one of overcoming from humble beginnings in Cambodia to working hard in his laboring days in Memphis, TN to his retirement years in Lenoir, NC.He touched everyone he crossed paths with and left a lasting legacy and impact in all of our lives!His heart was always open to trying to help someone!Johnny will be forever missed and constantly loved and always in our hearts, minds, and souls!We love and miss you!
