Granite Falls – Johnnie Floyd Wicker, age 77, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his wife and daughters, on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice. He was born in Steele, Missouri on February 5, 1937 to the late G.W. “Bud” Wicker and Bertha Davis Wicker. He was married to Mary Cole Wicker of the home for more than 58 years. Johnnie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Johnnie loved his church, Friendship Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in many different capacities for more than 30 years. He was an ordained deacon and participated in mission trips to Haiti helping build churches. Johnnie worked in the heating and air conditioning business for several years with both, Home Electric and Wenbray Heating and Air and later owned Country Family Mobile Home Park. He and Mary enjoyed camping and traveling to Florida in their motor home for the winter and fellowshipping with their many camping friends. He was a life-long collector of pennies and enjoyed hosting his July 4th BBQ’s and cooking at church and for his daughters office. Johnnie was most proud of his family, spoiling his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and having family game nights. He never met a stranger and lived his life serving his Lord and loving others. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Wicker, Warner Roberts and Robert Wicker. Other than his wife he is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Glynis and David Perry; Tina and Auldin Robinson; Angel and Rusty Clark; JonLara and Roy McDavid; sisters, Katherine James of Kansas City, MO and Alice Williamson of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Jessica Hayes and husband, Aaron; Kristy Weber and husband, Nick; Jarred Perry and wife, Bethany; Shelly Hildebrand and husband, Steve; Jordan Rucker and husband, Josh; Kaleb Phillips and wife, Lakota; great-grandchildren, Avery Weber; Aryanna Weber; Clara Weber;Addison Perry; Brantley Hayes; Hayden Hildebrand; Bryce Hildebrand; Nicholas Hildebrand; numerous other relatives; and honorary family members, Derek Phillips and his children, Cody,Isaiah and Breanna. He also leaves behind his special pet companion, Tweeder. A celebration of Johnnie’s life will be held at Friendship Baptist Church on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2:30 with Pastor Lonnie Bell and Pastor Frank Denning officiating. Military Honors will be presented. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to the service.
