John Prestwood

January 30, 1946 — March 28, 2019

John L. Prestwood, born January 30, 1946, passed away the evening of March 28, 2019. He was the son of the late Luther and Helen Triplett Prestwood. John (or “Johnny”) Prestwood was a Vietnam veteran serving in the US Army. He was a former member of Green Valley Baptist Church. He was caring, loving, and had a humorous and happy demeanor. Loved by many for his positive attitude and commanding yet approachable presence, he liked to be light-hearted and joke with friends. As his career, he worked many years at Fairfield Chair Company until his recent retirement. He was in management helping to organize furniture shows in High Point, had an avid work ethic in his everyday company environment, and was accomplished and respected in his field. As an animal lover, he owned Yorkshire Terriers that brought him great joy and an abundance of fun and loyalty. His current Yorkie, Celeste Alexandria, a pet he loved dearly, is a treasure to the family. Spoiling her brought him great happiness with her protective and playful nature. Johnny lived by his own life standards and values that included teaching how important love of family is and showing that a great attitude and humor can get people through any challenging times. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Reavon Whittington Prestwood and his son John Bradley Prestwood.Other surviving family members include sister Lois (Roy) Greene, Dan (Hazel) Prestwood, Sam (Louise) Prestwood, and Thomas (Brenda) Prestwood. A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
